Indianapolis, Indiana (April 5th, 2017) In today's current climate, an active shooter is not only a possible scenario, but it's a growing threat. The objective of today's training at Marion Academy was to assist the administration and teachers in the implementation of a plan in case of an active shooter at their school. The educational criteria was based off of federal statistics of occurrence and included what to expect from the shooter, constructing a plan, continued training and communicating the plan with local law enforcement agencies. Further hands on instructional methods included effective communication, securing a room to keep students and faculty safe, barricading a room, take down methods to stop the threat, and finally what to do when the police arrive. The administrator's and teacher's were quoted as saying that they had "learned a significant amount of vital information " from the training, and plans to continue similar training in the near future.
